Product Safety Enhancement Optimizes Filling Automation

Below we compare the use of conventional closures with the new Penetrex Self-Sealing closures by listing their differences in the filling process and in the final product.

1. Handling Bulk Bottles (Packaging)

Conventional:
Standard open-top bottles require special handling, even washing, to ensure removal of contaminants possibly introduced during bulk packaging and transport from the bottle supplier.

Penetrex:
Bottles pre-closed with Penetrex seals can be delivered from bottle manufacturing directly to the filling line. No washing or special handling is needed to ensure the vessel remains contaminant-free.

2. Automated Filling (Packaging)

Conventional:
Conventional filling lines are often plagued by splashing, spilling and contamination. Bottle handling, storage and transport to the filling line risks exposure to various possible contaminants.

Penetrex:
The always-closed condition of Penetrex-sealed bottles eliminate spilling, splashing and protects the contents from contamination and evaporation.

3. Capping (Packaging)

Conventional:
Line transport from the filling line for tamper evidence sealing and capping can also result in splashing and spilling, complicating subsequent packaging steps.

Penetrex:
Tamper-evidence seals are applied more easily due to the Penetrex seals containment of the contents. Capping and packaging are handled in the same way as conventional bottles.

4. Dosing Accuracy (Consumer Experience)

Conventional:
Although many consumers make an effort to use oral syringes to more accurately dose medications, the use of arbitrarily selected spoons and inaccurate dose cups is common and can risk over-dose.

Penetrex:
In addition to the packaging line benefits, Penetrex bottled products dramatically improve the completed package by requiring the use of oral syringes for access. This means each dose is precisely measured every time.

5. Quality and Image (Consumer Experience)

Conventional:
Conventional liquid medication bottles drip and spill and may harm the image of many quality brand products. No one likes a medicine cabinet filled with sticky, possibly contaminated medication bottles.

Penetrex:
Obvious additional benefits include an extra layer of child-resistance and protection of the medication from spills, contamination and evaporation.
